Dean Colin Slee thanked the Archbishop and his wife for the giving of themselves for freedom and justice for all. But, before giving the blessing, the Archbishop thanked those in the cathedral for their help with campaigning which he claimed eventually freed Nelson Mandela.

A South African choir sang at the end of the service which was filmed by South African television for a broadcast during the national celebration day on Tuesday.
