We got some complimentary cauliflower nibbles and some bread. Also after about 10 minutes we received a complimentary croquetas portion, which made us very happy. Both main dishes were absolutely delicious! My pig's cheek was incredibly tender and the sweet potatoes were super sweet and nice. The lamb was perfectly cooked!
We will definitely go back there many times! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Service was friendly and slick (as it is in Jose) and the food was great. However, again the concept fell down slightly in that some of our 'sharing plates' were not built for sharing. Certain types of food are made for sharing (croquettes for example), others are not - like a piece of roasted butternut squash with goats cheese. This was beautifully prepared but more suited for one person to eat.
The design of the restaurant is odd - it's a mix of old and modern styles that doesn't really work. It wasn't well executed in places: the communal table was very wobbly, which makes sharing with 10 people slightly complicated.
It was very busy with a good atmosphere and we didn't feel rushed. It had the usual eclectic mix of Bermondsey folk plus some obvious 'out of town' additions (posher), probably attracted to the area by the White Cube gallery.
We had a great evening and I probably need to go back and try it again and see if I can work out what the concept is.
Either way, Good luck Jose and I look forward to more of your delicious food.
