Shad Thames Pumping Station Consultation at Beormund Community Centre

Thames Water is considering expanding the Shad Thames pumping station in Maguire Street, as a possible alternative to using the Alfred Salter Playground in Druid Street for the construction and operation of the proposed Thames Tunnel project.

Both locations are on the route of a sewer, which discharges untreated sewage into the River Thames close to the Design Museum at Butler's Wharf.

This option would involve significant engineering work at the pumping station, which is surrounded by residential properties, and have implications for local traffic flows.

However, it would avoid the need to use any land in Druid Street.

Find out more at these drop in sessions where the project team will be available to answer questions and take note of any issues raised:

A second phase of consultation (due to start in autumn 2011) will provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the revised proposals for the entire Thames Tunnel project.
