The work of more than 50 members of this prestigious society – a versatile show in which the artists have one thing in common – they all adore cats and love to paint them.

From the regal lion to the fluffy kitten, the cat is painted in many guises. Cats are adorable, playful and mischievous. Cats are majestic, elegant and agile.

Whether it is the tabby dozing by the fireside or the tiger watchful and ready to pounce, the cat has always been a fascination to artists.

There is an endless number of breeds - Siamese and Devon Rex, Blue British Shorthairs, creamy Persians and Chocolate Point Birmans, American Tortoiseshells and Blue Abyssinians.

Many are exotic, others are just favourite moggies, some are long-haired and some are short-haired

. They may be British, European or Oriental – but they are all painted with the expertise and care of artists who specialise in the painting of cats
