Firing on the Foreshore at Bankside foreshore

Bankside STEWards would like to invite you to join them at Firing on the Foreshore on Saturday 13 September. From 12 noon until covered by the incoming tide, pots made from Thames river clay will be fired in two bonfires constructed on the foreshore from Thames driftwood - an ancient London tradition going back more than 5,000 years. Warning: watching the rising tide slowly douse the fires can be strangely hypnotic!

Thames Finds Display: Come and join us on the river steps in front of the Globe Theatre where there will be a display of Thames finds for you to look at from 12 noon to 6pm. Hear all about the witch bottles, clay pipes and Bankside pottery, and see what people ate in the past.
