Let's talk about banter vs harassment

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

How harmless is banter? When does banter become harassment? How seriously do we take the issue? What can be done to create a culture where women feel safe on a night out?

Comedian Sara Pascoe is set to take part in a dynamic discussion about ‘banter’ vs harassment alongside writer and co-founder of blog The Vagenda Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett, London Evening Standard journalist Rosamund Urwin, founder of website TruLad Chris Steward, Susuana Antubam NUS Women's Officer and DJ Shalaah Tahira.

The event is organised by Southwark Council to mark the launch of its new Women’s Safety Charter - a voluntary scheme for bars and clubs across the borough to help ensure women can enjoy a night out without fear of harassment or intimidation.

The council has also partnered with Hollaback, an organisation against street harassment, to help deliver training to venue staff on how best to deal with the issue.
