As well as painting portraits, still-lifes and landscapes representing his expansive travels, Cedric Morris is best known for his flower paintings, which reveal his keen interest as a plant breeder. He cultivated over 90 new irises varieties and introduced many new plants to England.
This exhibition will focus on his flower paintings, many of which illustrate the irises he bred, in his unique expressive style.
Cedric Morris: Artist Plantsman will be held concurrently with an exhibition of Morris' landscapes by Philip Mould & Company in their Pall Mall gallery.
