Lecture by Lucy Munro of Keele University. Boy companies were a prominent part of theatrical culture for much of Shakespeare's career. This talk will explore boys' performance in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, its impact on adult companies and, in particular, its influence on Shakespeare's plays.
