Design Cities at Design Museum

Design Cities tells the story of contemporary design through the focus of seven key cities, and the part that they have played in the evolution of design and architecture over the last century.

Bringing together historical exhibits from some of the major collections of the world, including the Vitra Design Museum, the Albertina Museum in Vienna, the Neue Sammlung in Munich, the Pomipdou Centre in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Looking at seven cities, the exhibition starts with London at the time of the Great Exhibition of 1851 and moves through Vienna in 1908, Dessau in 1928, Paris in 1936, Los Angeles in 1949, Milan in 1957, Tokyo in 1987 coming full circle to London in 2008.
