Play and poverty around the world

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Children the world-over, whatever their circumstances, love to play.

Organised by international charity EveryChild, chances4childhood opens on Universal Children's Day on 20 November. The exhibition provides an extraordinary insight into the lives and playtime of some of the most marginalised children, through photographs, toys, and the remarkable stories of the children themselves.

The exhibition includes toy cars made by AIDS orphans in Malawi, traditional dolls favoured by children growing up in orphanages in the Former Soviet Union, and games played by street children in Southern India as well as the remarkable stories of the children themselves.

Also famous UK personalities will be sharing, for the first time, some of their own most precious memories of play.
