Promoting & Packaging at Museum of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

Come along and see some of the outrageous claims made for Victorian and early 20th century remedies.

Looking at both medicine packaging and advertising, this session will have you laughing and cringing! The 1800s saw a huge rise in the number of proprietary medicines due to the power of advertising. Promotion including fliers and newspapers often included testimonials (true or false) from satisfied customers who made claims for the curative properties of the medicine.

These sessions are designed for people in the local community to enjoy the RPSGB's fantastic collections close up.

Some of these sessions will include object handling whilst others give you the opportunity to see objects rarely displayed.
