Poppy Appeal Volunteer Open Evening at Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion in London needs special volunteers to help organise this year's Poppy Appeal in its aim to raise 3 million in the capital.

Volunteers are crucial to the success of the Legion's annual Poppy Appeal but as well as its army of volunteer collectors in October and November, the London team also needs people throughout the year to help with the mammoth task of the organisation behind the collections.

Volunteer roles include providing PR support on a number of projects; helping the team set up "Poppy Centres" where collectors can pick up and return collection materials; and helping us recruit more collectors, especially by working with companies in The City.

Elvi Soria, the Regional Fundraising Manager for Greater London, explains that although the Legion is always looking for more collectors in London, there are also many other volunteering opportunities at the Royal British Legion, and not just during the Remembrance period.

"Making sure the Poppy Appeal runs smoothly in London is a huge task and our small team struggles to make the most of all the opportunities London has to offer. We need people with a range of skills, but particularly PR, sales or marketing, to help us, for as much or as little time as they can offer.

"The volunteer roles we have available will help us to get even more poppies out on the streets in November, but we also offer full training, the support people need to be successful and an experience like no other!"
