Lie Back in Anger

In May 1956 John Osborne shook the foundations of British theatre with Look Back in Anger. Fifty years on Osborne's 'Angry Young Man' has been challenged by the 'Ladette'. Her marriage is lifeless, her job mindless, and where do you start on the Isle of Dogs? But now Jenny's starting to find her voice. She doesn't just wear her heart on her sleeve, she dresses in it top to toe.

Inspired by Osborne's original, Lie Back in Anger by Bridget O'Donnell explores whether a modern woman can ever be as uncompromising as the vaunted 'angry man'. Is Jenny a genuine Jimmy Porter counterpart? Or just a sharp chav who can't afford a university place?
