Stories on a Shoestring

Little Secrets

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Pre-school children and their parents can head down to Southwark Playhouse every Thursday morning at 10.30 am for an hour of story telling, children's theatre, parties, puppets, games and fun. Who knows what secret your little one will discover?

Drew Colby is a puppet man – but he makes all of his puppets out of things. Just ordinary things – a scarf and a tie, a hanky and some glasses – can he tell a story on a shoestring? He can! And you can too!

This fascinating and magical performance involves puppets made using everyday objects and the story is always different – created uniquely for each new audience. Here you will see well known characters (you may see Little Red Riding Hood and the WOLF! – or Jack and the Beanstalk) and characters that are not so well known (anyone hear of Tom Tit Tot?) The stories come from all over the world!
Funny, whimsical with unique audience participation and live music, the show is perfect for pre-school children. Bring your best singing voice (and hands for clapping!)
