With a venomous mother Mary (Mo'Nique in an Oscar & BAFTA winning performance) who treats her like a servant and her school life blighted by her illiteracy.
Precious struggles to cope with her seemingly hopeless life, yet never gives up her dream of becoming a star.
With the nurturing of literacy teacher Ms. Rain, Precious is offered a path to a brighter future.
