New Post Office for Great Dover Street
Great Dover Street's new Post Office opened for business on Monday, replacing the New Kent Road branch which closed earlier this year.
The New Kent Road Post Office branch closed in February, following the resignation of the subpostmaster.
A Post Office spokesperson told us: "We are delighted all our hard work has paid off and we have been able to secure the restoration of convenient local access to Post Office services in Southwark.
"We would like to apologise to our loyal customers in Southwark for the extended closure of their Post Office. We are sure customers will be pleased ... and will support our agent in their new venture."
The new Post Office is located at the rear of the Costcutter supermarket at 159a Great Dover Street. It has two counter positions. The counter is open 9am to 5.30pm on weekdays and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
The area has lost two Post Offices in recent years with the closure of the Bermondsey Street and Abbey Street branches.
