Next month The Art Academy's community of resident professional painters and sculptors and the popular programme of daytime and evening art classes will relocate to Lambert House, close to the Menier Chocolate Factory.

The charity was founded in 2000 by sculptor Tanya Russell. Originally known as the Sculpture Academy, it was based in Waterloo's Leake Street until three years ago.

"We are so pleased to have found a new home in such a great location," says Tanya Russell.

"South London is ideal for the academy – we started seven years ago near Waterloo, and being in Southwark for the last three years we've been able to grow and establish our reputation. What we offer is intensive, studio-based art experiences in a stimulating and supportive environment."
