London Eye now fully operational

It's one of the most talked about structures in Europe. And it's right here in SE1. The British Airways London Eye is finally open to the public, offering stunning views over the capital.

Despite a series of high-profile problems during construction and considerable disruption to users of the riverside walkway, many of the local residents who took preview rides in February seem to think that it was all worthwhile. One visitor told London SE1 that it was "much less scary" than she had expected with "the view of London spreading out obliterating any nervousness".

The ticket office and shop for the London Eye is located in the north-west corner of County Hall with a branch of Costa Coffee providing refreshments.

And if the volume of telephone and email enquiries about the Eye received by the London SE1 team is any indication, London's millennium observation wheel is set to be a great success.
