Hundreds visit gay Christmas Fayre in Waterloo

Organisers from the House of Homosexual Culture counted approximately 900 visitors through the door, plus around 100 contributors, performers, volunteers and organisers.

Local author Sarah Waters (Tipping the Velvet, The Night Watch) cut the ribbon to open the event.

Visitors to over 40 stalls bought food, clothing, accessories, cards, calendars, books, theatre tickets and wigs.

The organisers will be making a substantial donation to London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard.

The Christmas Fayre followed 2006's successful Homo Homemakers event which attracted 700 visitors.
