London SE1 website team

Sainsbury's has opened its ninth Local convenience store in SE1.

Sainsbury’s Local opens at One Tower Bridge

The new mini supermarket is at the corner of Tower Bridge Road and Queen Elizabeth Street.

Sainsbury's Local is the first retail outlet to open as part of the One Tower Bridge development, which includes a new street called Duchess Walk that will eventually be lined with shops and restaurants.

The new store is open Monday to Saturday 7am to 11pm. Signage at the store shows the Sunday opening hours as 8am to 10.30pm but the Sainsbury's website says 11am to 5pm.

Next month councillors will decide on controversial plans for a Tesco Express store just 250 yards from the new Sainsbury's.

This Sainsbury's Local is the ninth to open in SE1; a tenth store on the site of the Valentine pub in Long Lane will open on Monday 2 March.
