Princess Anne came to Tower Bridge Road on Tuesday to visit the new Alex Monroe jewellery workshop next to The George pub.

Princess Royal visits Tower Bridge Road jewellery workshop

The Princess made the visit as president of the UK Fashion & Textile Association and to mark the 30th anniversary of the Alex Monroe jewellery brand.

Monroe set up his first studio in South London in 1987. In 2012 he opened a shop in Snowsfields.

Last year the company opened its second premises in SE1 with a new workshop in Tower Bridge Road on a narrow site between the Cold Mountain Kit shop and The George pub.

Both the Snowsfields and Tower Bridge Road buildings were designed by SE11-based DSDHA architects.

Alex Monroe has designed a range of jewellery – including a corgi pendant – on sale at the Buckingham Palace shop.
