Excellent evening
Dined at Pont last night and it was a first rate experience. I thought it would be super expensive, but as well as the a la carte menu, they also have a menu du jour which is £20 for 2 courses or £25 for 3 courses, which is not bad when you consider the location.

You can even dine outdoors and enjoy the spectacular views of Tower Bridge twinkling - heaters & blankets are provided!

The food was excellent - I went for a duck salad, which was thin slivers of meat like carpaccio, served with a few slivers of vegetables. My main course was the rib of pork served with Mustard sauce, potatoes & baby leeks. There was plenty of meat attached to my rib and it was all delicious. I didn't really have room but I tried The Pineapple galette with pistachio ice-cream, and it was superb.

The service at Pont was very good - all the staff were very accomodating, professional and not "in your face" but discrete, just what you want from a fine dining establishment.

The restaurant appeared to be full of business types in large groups and tourists (why do blokes insist on wearing their baseball caps at the dinner table?!). It would be nice to see more locals there. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Lovely food and great service
We booked a table at the Pont de la Tour bar last Saturday night, to take advantage of their "wine at wine shop prices" special offer for January and February. It was a really good experience - excellent food, great service and (with such good-value wine)a steal. We ordered a la carte rather than from the fixed price menu but it still seemed fairly priced. Definitely worth while - and we'd go again, even without the wine shop prices. We really felt we were getting quality.
