A brand new play commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme staged by the Imperial War Museum in conjunction with The Old Vic.

The Battle of the Somme was the longest and most costly land battle in British history, fought from 1 July to 18 November 1916.

Somme Theatre will see a community cast of volunteers from Southwark and Lambeth exploring the realities of life on the front line.

Somme Theatre has been made possible through an award of £46,100 from The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), and the generous support of Andrew and Caroline Preece, Victoria Preece, Coutts & Co; Joy Chambers and Sarah Houghton, Shell and CMS Cameron McKenna.
