Gender Equality Discussion for Women

With Polly Toynbee

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Do you have strong opinions about gender issues? If so, Lambeth Council wants to hear from you. Residents can have their say on gender equality at two discussion events being run by the council. These will help us meet the new gender equality duty on public bodies.

Writer, journalist and commentator Polly Toynbee is guest speaker for the women’s discussion.

From April 2007, the council will have a legal duty to eliminate unlawful sex discrimination and harassment, and to promote equality of opportunity between men and women. The council will also publish a Gender Equality Scheme setting out how it will meet the gender equality objectives.

To help develop this scheme the council is running two round table discussions for residents – one for women and one for men. The aim is to identify issues of particular concern to women and men respectively.
