Cardiff County & Vale of Glamorgan Symphonic Brass was founded by Arwel Jenkins in 1991 to give the County's leading school-age brass players the opportunity to play chamber music to the highest standards. The ten-piece ensemble, which has been directed by Matthew Thistlewood since 1993, performs a wide range of music from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary scores. The group is made up of 14 - 18 year old musicians. Symphonic Brass has performed throughout the UK and also abroad, at major venues such as London's Barbican Hall, and Millennium Dome and the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham.
