You will first tour the part of Bankside, close to the Thames, where the bull and bear baiting arenas and the early theatres, including the Globe and the Rose, were located. Their roles and histories will be discussed. The site of the Rose theatre, discovered in 1989, will be opened specially and finds from the excavation, brought over from the Museum of London, will be shown and discussed.
