This November choreographer Siobhan Davies invites a number of eminent artists to her RIBA award-winning studios, to talk with other artists about how they make their work.
Edmund de Waal is a potter and a writer. He has recently completed an installation for the new Ceramics Gallery at the V&A, Signs and Wonders, in which some 300 porcelain vessels sit on a floating shelf in the central dome above the gallery.
AS Byatt CBE, DBE, is known internationally for her short stories and novels, which include the Booker Prize-winning Possession. Her latest novel The Children’s Book was shortlisted for the 2009 Booker Prize.
These talks are a development from a number of conversations Siobhan Davies had in 2008 with eight artists from outside the world of dance, taking the word 'choreography' as the trigger.
For Conversations on Making, four of these artists were then asked by Siobhan to choose someone - again from outside their realm of work - to talk about what it is that fires up and sustains the making of their own work.
