To mark the 65th Anniversary of Victory in Europe, Sir Rodric Braithwaite former diplomat, writer and British ambassador in Moscow from 1988-1992, will talk about this famous battle and about the fate of individuals - schoolchildren, students, women factory workers, party officials, musicians, artists, and ordinary soldiers: the people who believe, with justification, that it was they who bore the main brunt of defeating Hitler.
The lecture will be preceded by an Act of Remembrance at the Soviet War Memorial at 11am outside the museum in the adjacent Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park.
