Becoming a Father at Southwark Cathedral

Southwark-based charity Working With Men is organising a short course for men from South East London whose wives are pregnant and who are therefore about to become fathers for the first time.

The course will be free to attend and will be given by Working With Men's qualified facilitators.

The inspiration behind the course was to bring families together and to give men a positive and fun platform to go into what will be the most responsible and inspiring thing in their lives, namely becoming a father!

The aim is to address issues such as:

1. How can they be proactive as fathers and be empowered to interact with their children as much as possible from day 1 of their lives?

2. What does it mean for them to be a father? What are the characteristics of an "effective father"?

3. What impact will the arrival of the child have on the relationship with the mother? What will change in the relationship and how will it change?

The workshop is intended to be interactive and fun - expectant dads of all social, ethnic and national backgrounds in SE1 and SE London are welcome.
