Guinness World Records adjudicators were present at Potters Fields Park to witness the attempt at the highest number of people arm wrestling in one place and at one time. Unfortunately, light rain began falling at the start and officials had to appeal to puzzled passers-by on the Thames Path to join in.

A party of French school children from near Lille was directed to fill empty chairs and the contest only got under way when a group from Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar School, visiting the Design Museum, was diverted to help out.

206 people took part in the record-breaking event at tables in the park.

There were no spectators but those who stayed for the heats saw 23-year-old Myles Hayden crowned Bulldog Champion.

Remaining adults were served with a gin and tonic.

A year ago Nectar chose Potters Fields Park to attempt the world's largest group massage.
