During November eligible businesses in the Bankside area were balloted on whether Better Bankside should receive a third five-year mandate to levy a charge on business rates in the area.

From a 42 per cent turnout, 88 per cent of businesses voted 'yes' to another five years of Better Bankside.

The BID's new term begins on 1 April 2015 and its area will be extended west to Blackfriars Road and south along Great Suffolk Street.

"It's been a pleasure for the team to see so many of our members during the course of the ballot," said Better Bankside CEO Peter Williams.

"The extended membership represents a wide range of size and type of company, and hearing their different experiences of operating in Bankside has been invaluable in planning for the next five years.

"We are very grateful for the incredible level of support indicated by the ballot result, and very determined to provide the highest level of service in return."

Better Bankside was the first business improvement district in Southwark.
