Waterloo Library: no funding yet for permanent building

Waterloo councillors have reacted with dismay to the news that no funding is currently available for a permanent library, but the council insists it is committed to finding a new site.

SE1 pupil wins Southwark public speaking contest

Isha Sesay, a year 10 pupil at St Saviour's and St Olave's School in New Kent Road, has won the inaugural Jack Petchey Foundation Speak Out Challenge Southwark final.

Tate Modern extension gets green light

Tate Modern's 165 million extension this week received planning permission from Southwark Council. It could be ready in time for the 2012 London Olympics.
