Thames Festival seeks local river memories

London SE1 website team

Do you have a favourite memory connected with the Thames? Or do you know somebody who has memories of living, working or playing on or by the river who could tell their story?

The Thames Festival is contacting individuals, community organisations and reminiscence groups to ask members to contribute favourite stories and memories about the Thames.

Festival organisers plan to create an exhibition from selected stories for display at the Capital Age Festival on Sunday 20 August and The Mayor's Thames Festival on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September.

The stories will also be published on the Thames Festival website.

    • Has something important happened to you on or by the river?
    • Did you participate in an historic event or occasion on or by the River?
    • Do you have a story about working on or by the river?
    • What does looking at or being beside the River Thames make you think of?
    • What about having fun on or by the river – have you got a favourite memory?

Send your stories (50-250 words) by 19 July to Kate Forde, The Mayor's Thames Festival, The Bargehouse, South Bank, London SE1 9PH, by email to [email protected] or 020 7928 8998.
