Sainsbury’s to open supermarket and pharmacy at Guy’s Hospital

London SE1 website team

A new combined Sainsbury's Local food store and outpatients' pharmacy is to open on Great Maze Pond at Guy's Hospital.

The New Salomons Centre will be converted into a Sainsbury's Local store

The new store will open in the New Salomons Centre at the foot of Guy's Hospital tower.

The combined mini-supermarket and pharmacy is part of the controversial plan by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust to outsource its pharmacy service to Sainsbury's.

Planning permission to convert the disused New Salomons Centre to retail use has already been obtained by hospital bosses and now Sainsbury's has applied to Southwark Council for permission to create a new shopfront and erect signage on the building.
