Only for people in staying in the hotel?
We dropped in to the Mad Hatter at 1pm on lunchtime on Sunday. My recommendation is don't bother! Maybe if you are staying in the hotel, it's just about okay (although there are many other, better options nearby)but it was pretty dire for passing trade. Although there was almost no one in the bar, it took ages to be served. And then the staff looked baffled by our orders for a pint of beer and a glass of wine. Plus the music was appalling. We left as soon as we'd finished our drinks, and definitely won't be going back. What a shame - since it could be an interesting place and, as a Fullers Pub, it should be much, much better.
Worth Detouring from the River Walk to Visit
On a recent walk, my wife and I stopped in early evening for a couple of pints an a light bite before venturing further east along the river. We were greeted warmly and treated to excellent well kept hand pulled Fullers ales - as expected since the establishment is part of the Fuller's entity. The pub was nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable. While we only ate light bites, the food was very good and well presented. Although a bit off the river walk, the Mad Hatter is worth the short detour when you get to Blackfriars Bridge.
