Blackfriars Settlement: cuts "could have a very dramatic effect"

Julie Corbett-Bird and Jenny Hinds of Blackfriars Settlement told Southwark's cabinet on Tuesday night that the planned cuts to community services are more severe and more wide-ranging than feared.

Helen Firminger, director of Bankside Open Spaces Trust, this week addressed Southwark's cabinet on behalf of groups whose work is likely to be hit by swinging cuts to the borough's environment and ecology programme.

A man, believed to be in his 60s, is in a stable condition in an east London hospital after he was injured in a collision with a double-decker bus outside Lambeth North Underground Station.
