The cabinet members chaired a number of round-table discussions about Government policy before a concluding speech by the Prime Minister.

The event was held in the sports hall of the Beormund Community Centre in Bermondsey's Abbey Street.

• On Thursday morning communities secretary Hazel Blears returned to SE1 to visit Coin Street Community Builders as part of the launch of her department's new Community Empowerment, Housing and Economic Regeneration Bill. Ms Blears will soon have to make a decision on CSCB's controversial Doon Street skyscraper proposal.
