Barratt Developments has revealed plans for a development of around 400 homes at the southern end of Blackfriars Road.

Barratt plans 30-storey tower at St George’s Circus

In January we reported on Barratt Developments' acquisition of the site at 128-150 Blackfriars Road.

This week the company held its first public exhibition of its plans for the site which is currently occupied by Erlang House, Hill House and Milcote House.

The designs have been drawn up by Maccreanor Lavington, the same practice responsible for the award-winning H10 London Waterloo hotel on the other side of St George's Circus.

The centrepiece of the scheme is a 30-storey residential tower located on the site of Erlang House.

The scheme includes 400 homes and 35,000 sq ft of office space, roughly equivalent to the current floorspace in Erlang House.

Barratt is promising that a quarter of the homes will be 'affordable'.

A seven-storey block with a concave frontage will face St George's Circus on the currently empty plot at the north-eastern corner of the junction.

• The public exhibition is open on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 May 12 noon-9pm at ASC Gallery, Erlang House.
