The daughter of Shakespeare's Globe founder Sam Wanamaker unveiled the plaque to commemorate Peter Streete, master builder of the 1599 Globe and Peter McCurdy, master builder of the 1997 Globe.

The oak plaque, commissioned for the Globe from sculptor and carver Adam Williamson by the Worshipful Company of Carpenters, illustrates the story of the building of the first and third Globes on Bankside.

Five years ago Ms Wanamaker unveiled a blue plaque outside the reconstructed playhouse in recognition of her father's pivotal role in creating the centre for the performance and study of William Shakespeare's works.
