Tate Modern extension: one year to raise the cash says Serota

Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota has warned that if the gallery can't raise the bulk of the funds it needs for its Transforming Tate Modern project within the next year, "then there's no point in continuing".

Edinburgh statue for fireman who died in Tooley Street blaze

A statue of James Braidwood has been unveiled in Edinburgh's Parliament Square. The pioneering firefighter died in the Great Fire of Tooley Street in 1861.
