London College of Communication launches iPhone and iPad app

Designed by FdA (foundation degree) design for graphic communication graduate Luca Paulina and developed as part of a student competition, the app is the result of a cross-college partnership using design, media and technical expertise at LCC.

The app was developed by Newcastle-based hedgehog lab and provides mobile access to course details, news, events, picture galleries, social networks and more.

"The app has been created to raise the public profile of the college," says
Professor Sandra Kemp, head of college.

"It has been designed in a way that makes user interaction with the college more personalised, social and accessible.

"The challenge was to capture the huge range of student activity at LCC and the visual approach to this sets it apart from other apps currently on the market.

"We hope this is just the start; we want to add more content to it in the future and extend it to other platforms."

• The LCC app is available free from Apple's App Store.
