Borough Market’s Cookbook Club offers free places to SE1 locals

London SE1 website team

Borough Market has launched a 'Cookbook Club' to bring SE1 locals and Londoners together to share food inspired by classic recipe books.

The Cookbook Club is free to join and will offer members the opportunity to join a series of exclusive From Page to Plate events, each focused on recipes from a classic cookery book.

Each From Page to Plate event will be held in the Cookhouse at Three Crown Square.

Club members who book a ticket will be asked to pick something to make from that book, cook it at home and then bring it along to the Cookhouse. The food, and the experience of cooking from the book, will be shared over drinks supplied by Borough Market traders.

The From Page to Plate events are organised and hosted by food writer Angela Clutton who will be cooking her chosen dish at each session for members to share, and giving some background and insight into the book and its writer.

"The Cookbook Club is all about Londoners coming together to share food" said Keith Davis, managing dDirector of Borough Market.

"We're all buying cookery books and taking pictures of our food on Instagram these days, but this an opportunity to connect with the whole experience of choosing and shopping for ingredients, cooking and learning something new. The Cookbook Club is not about judging – just exchanging experiences of cooking recipes and spending a convivial evening eating with neighbours."

Angela Clutton said: "The Borough Market Cookbook Club is like a 'normal' book club – just with the added and welcome advantage of being focused on food!

"Our 'From Page to Plate' events are going to be a great opportunity for all levels cooks to share their thoughts, opinions and experiences of cooking from some of the best cookery books around. The books we've chosen cover a range of times, places and styles of cooking. I can't wait to find out what the Club's members make of them."

Cookbook Club membership is free of charge. If you would like to join, email your name, home address and email address to [email protected] with the subject line "Cookbook Club".

From Page to Plate evenings are available to Cookbook Club members at £6 a ticket. Fifteen places are available at every session, five of which will be offered free to SE1 residents.

From Page to Plate events will take place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm in The Cookhouse, Three Crown Square.
