Ronald McDonald House gets green light in Lambeth Road

London SE1 website team

Plans for new accommodation for families of young patients at Evelina London Children's Hospital have been approved by Lambeth Council.

The new 59-bedroom Ronald McDonald House in Lambeth Road – which will open in 2016 – will replace the current 20-bedroom accommodation block near Guy's Hospital.

Demand for the accommodation already far outstrips the number of rooms available and this demand is likely to increase further still as the number of children being treated at Evelina London Children's Hospital is increasing every year.

The new hostel will occupy the site of Brian Creamer House, formely a hall of residence for students of King's College London, which is situated close to Lambeth Palace and to the north of Lambeth Road.

Last year McDonald's UK customers donated £3.1 million to the charities which run the 14 Ronald McDonald House hostels across the UK.
